Together: Canada’s Hospital Pharmacy Conference 2021
The "Triple Crown" of Canadian hospital conferences, Together 2021, was a groundbreaking week-long virtual conference with over 800+ attendees.
Reveal Events Group had the honour of managing and producing the "Together 2021" virtual conference for the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists (CSHP). This week-long seminar was a combination of the three major CSHP annual seminars: the Banff seminar, the Harrison Pharmacy Management Seminar, and the Professional Practice Conference. With over 800 virtual attendees from across Canada, this was their biggest conference in three decades. It delivered over 100 sessions, showcased 27 exhibitors, garnered 5,425 exhibit hall visits, and featured perspective-expanding keynotes from public health leaders such as Canada's Chief Public Health Officer, Dr. Theresa Tam, and award-winning national health writer Andre Picard.
The Experience
Reveal Events Group worked with CSHP to combine their in-personal annual conferences and seminars into one week-long virtual conference, which was presented as a blend of pre-recorded and live speaker sessions. It also featured a virtual exhibit hall and had 68 concurrent poster sessions available on-demand, with live Q&A sessions where those presenters could answer questions from the attendees. Attendees were kept engaged through relevant content, daily prize draws, and gamification. For instance, they could gain game points by exploring the virtual platform. There were also social networking sessions, along with live online entertainment.
From content management and curation, speaker management, to day-of support, our team worked behind the scenes to ensure that the conference ran smoothly. As it was an accredited continuing education conference, we also ensured that all the guidelines around compliance were met. The main challenge around this event was to create accessibility and consider the multiple time zones and varied schedules of the prospective attendees. To that end, we built an accessible and easy to navigate virtual platform that ultimately increased the conference's reach.
The Impact
In a typical year, the CPCH conference would see around 350 attendees. With the Together 2021 conference, this number tripled as over 800 virtual attendees registered for the conference. This flexibility that virtual conferences offer also meant that attendees could customize their conference experience with on-demand sessions and re-watch any live sessions they may have missed.
